{"id":5327,"date":"2024-12-21T16:26:32","date_gmt":"2024-12-21T15:26:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/siessen.org\/2024\/12\/christmas-greeting\/"},"modified":"2024-12-21T16:26:32","modified_gmt":"2024-12-21T15:26:32","slug":"christmas-greeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/siessen.org\/en\/2024\/12\/christmas-greeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas greeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">This is the day,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">that the Lord has made,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Let us rejoice and be glad in him.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">For the most holy, beloved child is given to us<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">and born for us along the way  <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">and placed in a manger,  <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">because there was no room in the hostel.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Glory to the Lord God in the highest heights  <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">and on earth peace to men of good will.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Passion Office of St. Francis, Ps. 15  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are approaching Christmas, the feast of the birth of the Lord. Our Christmas picture comes from<br \/>\nthe chapel of Santa Maria degli Angeli on Mount La Verna. We would like to draw your attention in particular to St. Francis, who stands in amazement before the work of the Triune God in the Incarnation and contemplates the poverty of the child in the manger. He always wanted to be as poor as this child in the manger. The fact that God does not come into our world with power and violence was a source of great joy and an incentive for him.<br \/>\nSt. Francis and St. Anthony on the opposite page are both very close to the action and immersed in longing, adoring wonder. They also invite us to look, marvel<br \/>\nand worship.<br \/>\nThese days, we too are on our way to the crib. We are passing through light and dark areas. We are traveling together as a community of believers together with all the seekers of our time.       <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">As believers and those who hope, we do not lose sight of the light, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the light that shines for us in the beauty of creation, in the eyes of our fellow human beings who have already found something, in God&#8217;s Word<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">and in the light from the crib.  <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here we can find, like Francis and Anthony, and dwell<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">in looking, marveling and worshipping.  <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Strengthened, we can move on as pilgrims of hope<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">into the Holy Year, which <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Christmas.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Let us approach the incarnate God with a hope that is not <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">a hope that does not <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">disappointed.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the day, that the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in him.
