Project
Assisi Mission Children’s Centers
There are two child and youth welfare facilities on the Assisi Mission site.
The Bophelo Children and Youth Care Center takes in children aged 0-17 who are orphans or come from broken homes and are neglected or whose welfare is at risk, and who are brought in via the youth welfare office or social services. The children attend the nearby Assisi Mission School and the secondary school in Ladybrand, receive therapy and are cared for by trained home educators.
The Rebabaletswe Centre is a partial care center that only operates during the day. Children aged 1 – 6 from the surrounding farms who are disadvantaged in some way are cared for here. Either there is no kindergarten near them, or they do not have a birth certificate and therefore cannot enter an official institution, or they have a mild disability and there is no other support option for them. The children are collected from the various farms in the morning and taken home again in the afternoon.
Donations are used for maintenance and new purchases.
