The General Chapter will take place from August 2-21, 2026. A General Chapter is the highest decision-making body of the Congregation. It elects the General Leadership for the next six years and makes fundamental decisions for this term of office.
Participants in the General Chapter are the current office bearers and the elected delegates from the three provinces.
All professed sisters are involved in the General Chapter:
- through the election of delegates,
- by nominating candidates for the office of Superior General, Vicar General and General Councillor,
- by working on upcoming topics at sister meetings, mat chapters and provincial chapters,
- by submitting applications, suggestions and statements.

According to the constitutions, the tasks of the General Chapter are to elect the new General Management:
The tasks of the General Chapter include
- Review of the Franciscan life of the Congregation and its mission in the light of the signs of the times,
- Receipt of the reports on the situation of the congregation as a basis for further consultations,
- Review and, if necessary, amend the constitutions,
- Issuing, reviewing and amending articles of association,
- Processing of applications, suggestions and comments received, establishment of a province,
- Determination of the provincial territories,
- Division and merger of existing provinces,
- Transformation of a province into a region,
- Abolition of a province and disposal of the provincial assets,
- Advice on fundamental financial and economic issues, if necessary adaptation of the statutes of the civil legal entity of the congregation,
- Determination of the delegate key for the next General Chapter.
